The term "Jew's Harp," has become a generic term for musical instruments that feature a flexible tongue, or lamella, attached to a frame and using the mouth cavity of the player as a resonator. The origins of the term remain unclear. A player may create a wide range of changes in pitch, timbre and amplification of the sound by plucking the lamella and by executing various movements of the mouth and larynx.
