Joey Karz creates music that draws from contemporary classical, free jazz, film scores, and electronic dance music, culminating in an eclectic, genre fusing sound. Joey was a fellow in the Los Angeles Philharmonic Composer Fellowship Program, where his pieces were performed by ensembles such as the Los Angeles Master Chorale and the string instrumentalists of the L.A. Philharmonic. He was selected as a 2021 YoungArts finalist in classical music, and was a semifinalist for the 2021 United States Presidential Scholar in the Arts Award. His music has been featured on NPR radio, at the Yellowbarn and Lake George Music Festivals, in student films across the country, and even in a magazine. Joey is currently studying Composition and Thoery where he writes concert music, scores films, produces pop music, and plays keys in a jazz combo. You can check out some of his work on josephkarz.com!
