Graduating MM student Hyerim Lee was just named the 2nd Prize winner in the 2020 Music Teachers’ National Association Young Artist Piano Competition. The finals were held by video recording due to the cancellation of the live final round in Chicago, which were to be held on March 23. Hyerim was declared the First Prize winner of the Michigan state round in November, and passed through the regional division as the First Prize winner in January. She is a student of Christopher Harding, and will be continuing her DMA studies at Michigan in the Fall. She graduates this May with a double degree in Piano Performance and Piano Chamber Music.
Hyerim is also a member of the Belkorim Piano Trio, which took 3rd Prize in the 2020 MTNA Collegiate Chamber Music Competition. Along with violinist Natsuko Takashima and cellist Isabel Dimoff, the trio was coached by Amy Cheng and performed music of Grieg and Ravel, also by video submission.
