Edgar Maddy Distinguished University Emeritus Professor of Voice at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance, tenor GEORGE SHIRLEY, is the recipient of countless accolades, including a Grammy and the 2014 National Medal of Arts, presented by President Barack Obama. Professor Shirley will be celebrated this afternoon by colleagues, current and former students, family, friends and fans from near and far in a program of music and memories, honoring his life, career and legacy.
