Michigan Artist Citizens
Michigan Artist Citizens (MACs) are an elite cohort of community engaged SMTD students who serve for one year as program leaders for the Office of Engagement and Outreach’s community partnerships. They are arts ambassadors on campus and in communities throughout Michigan. In addition to their work within the programs, they also receive professional development opportunities and participate in cohort activities.
Michigan Artist Citizen
Serve as a community engaged artist on campus and in communities throughout Michigan!
The SMTD Office of Engagement & Community Outreach seeks up to 20 Michigan Artist Citizens (MACs) each academic year. MACs work between 3-5 hours per week – depending on the project. An average of 1-2 hours per month is required for professional development along with a weekly planning meeting. Faculty or advisor recommendation is required.
To be in the community and to meet not just the Mitchell students, but their families, the faculty, and administration – and to work with them so closely and so regularly – it’s a wonderful chance to feel that I’m not just part of SMTD, but a part of Ann Arbor.
– Zachary Ragent (MM ’15, SM ’17, violin)
