Legendary conductor and educator H. Robert Reynolds served as the 6th Director of Bands at the University of Michigan from 1975 to 2001, and then as the conductor of the University of Southern California’s Wind Ensemble for another two decades after his retirement from U-M. He led the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings for much of its history and became known around the world for his expressive interpretations and as a champion of music for wind band. Maestro Reynolds passed away in January of this year at the age of 91, and the University of Michigan Symphony Band pays tribute to his enduring and incomparable legacy in a program filled with some of his favorite classics alongside music that his leadership and creativity brought into our world.
