The U-M Contemporary Directions Ensemble pays tribute to rock and roll through works by David Lang, Jimmy Lopez Bellido, acclaimed SMTD composition professor Michael Daugherty, and iconic guitarist and composer Frank Zappa. SMTD’s renowned Professor of Bassoon Jeffrey Lyman will be the soloist for Daugherty’s Dead Elvis.
