SMTD Well-Represented Among 2025 Tony Nominees

Congratulations to all of the SMTD community members who were nominated or part of nominated productions for this year’s Tony Awards!*

Celia Keenan-Bolger (BFA ’00, musical theatre) will be the recipient of the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award, a non-competitive philanthropic award for her advocacy work in the arts.

Darren Criss (BFA ’09, acting) was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for his performance as Oliver in Maybe Happy Ending. Fellow alums Helen J. Shen (BFA ’22, musical theatre) and Christopher James Tamayo (BFA ’22, musical theatre) were also part of the company for Maybe Happy Ending, which received a total of 10 nominations, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, Best Scenic Design of a Musical, Best Costume Design of a Musical, and Best Orchestrations.
