Bio

From murky basements to major music venues…

Nicole Smith (aka Nickie P) has been heavily involved in the music scene her entire life. From 1996 to 2000, Nickie attended private voice lessons and performed at local legion halls and various street shows. She was primarily trained in classical music but soon found her true passion for Hip Hop at age 14. In 2003, Nickie joined forces with her brother Kevin (aka Esque Roxwell) and his Hip Hop crew the Seven Chakraz, making her official entrance onto the scene.

The Seven Chakraz disbanded around 2007, but Nickie was still hungry to make music. She released her debut solo album entitled The Glitter Wars in 2009 and continued her drive for self-expression. Nickie later went on to release her second album entitled The Triumphant Rise & Tragic Existence of Sick Nick in 2013.

In 2021, after a long hiatus, Nickie released The Collective Thought E.P., a collaborative project that includes a custom comic book accompaniment designed by Kam Comics. Since her third album release, Nickie has put her focus into performing, promoting, and further developing her skills as an artist. In 2022, Nickie embarked on her greatest collaborative project to date: becoming a mother.

Nickie still makes time to perform, collaborate, and record new music whenever possible. She has opened for Hip Hop greats such as Digable Planets, Blackalicious, and the mighty KRS-One, and has organized multiple local events in her community including a popular monthly Hop Hop open mic night at the Blind Pig called The Dojo.
