Bio
Jungah Han is a set designer and educator whose work spans theatre, opera, dance, film, and television. Her designs have been presented across the United States and internationally, including with the National Dance Company of Korea, Sibiu International Theatre Festival in Romania, Philadelphia Theatre Company, National Black Theatre in New York, Shakespeare in Detroit, and Michigan Theatre. Recent set design credits include Home (귀향) with the National Dance Company of Korea; Sangjaru: Sounding Korea Outside the Box; King’s Orchestra: The Sounds of the Korean Royal Court with the Korean Performing Arts Initiative; You for Me for You; The Long Falls; My Onliness at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival; Youth Hamlet with Shakespeare in Detroit; Chiaroscuro: A Light and Dark Skin Comedy, directed by 2026 Obie Award recipient Abigail Jean-Baptiste, at National Black Theatre; and The Duat at Philadelphia Theatre Company.
Han has also worked as an associate and assistant scenic designer on Broadway, national tours, international productions, opera, ballet, and commercial projects, with credits including Lempicka, The Thanksgiving Play, Sally and Tom, Hercules, Jagged Little Pill, The Empire of Light, Red Waters, Once On This Island, Frankie & Johnny in the Clair de Lune, Harlequinade, Rigoletto, and Tosca.
As an educator, she has taught set design at Long Island University Post, SUNY Purchase, UC Riverside, and the University of San Diego. Her teaching is grounded in professional practice and emphasizes visual storytelling, creative problem-solving, collaboration, and the development of each student’s individual artistic voice. Han is an Executive & Core-Faculty Member of the Nam Center for Korean Studies and serves on the USA 829 Scenic Design Exam Committee. She is also a Faculty Affiliate of the University of Michigan Arts Initiative and an Alternate to the SMTD Senate Assembly (2026–2029).
She holds Master of Fine Arts degrees in Set Design from San Diego State University and the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale University.
