Bio
Hyunkyung Shin is a PhD student in Performing Arts Technology, working at the intersection of spatial audio, extended reality, and human-computer interaction. Her research investigates how people perceive and navigate sound in immersive space, and how XR interfaces can support spatial sound control. Her work has appeared at AES, ACM SUI, ICAD, and NIME.
As a composer and sound artist, Shin creates works that bridge acoustic performance and spatial interaction, with electroacoustic compositions and XR performance systems presented at venues including ICMC, SEAMUS, and NYCEMF.
Shin holds an M.S. from Georgia Institute of Technology and a B.M. from Berklee College of Music.
