Recruitment Coordinator | Undergraduate Orientation Coordinator


Alexa Martinez (she/her/hers) is a Recruitment Coordinator for the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. She supports all aspects of SMTD’s admissions and orientation programming, namely serving as a resource for prospective students and families with general inquiries on the SMTD application process and serving as an admissions counselor.

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Martinez graduated from Northwestern University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies, a minor in Business Institutions, and a certificate in Integrated Marketing Communications. While at NU, she was a member of the co-ed a cappella group Purple Haze, spearheading the launch of the group’s 20th anniversary CD Symphony in 2016. She also was a dedicated member of NU’s Alternative Students Breaks program, leading pre-orientation, volunteer-based trips for incoming first-year students and serving on the executive board.

Prior to joining SMTD, Martinez worked at global public relations firm Edelman in Chicago, IL for almost four years, where she counseled enterprise and consumer technology companies on integrated communications strategies.

Martinez’s hobbies include staying active, volunteering with the dogs and rabbits at the Humane Society of Huron Valley, baking, and watching B1G basketball.

As a performing arts enthusiast with a passion for mentorship, she is elated to join SMTD and support burgeoning performing artists on their academic endeavors.
