SMTD Ticket Policies

COVID-19 Update for the School of Music, Theatre & Dance Ticketed Events

On Wednesday, March 11, the University of Michigan instituted preventative COVID-19 measures. One of these measures cancels all large events on campus.

How this will affect the remainder of the SMTD performance season:

All currently scheduled performances and events are cancelled. This includes:
DIE FLEDERMAUS, A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY, MY ONE & ONLY, and the Musical Theatre Senior Showcase.

All free and non-ticketed SMTD events.

All events in Hill Auditorium, Rackham Auditorium, Power Center, Mendelssohn Theatre, and Arthur Miller Theatre, including the Men’s and Women’s Glee Club concerts.

Anyone who has already purchased a ticket has three options:
➡ Exchange your ticket for a credit toward our 2020-21 performance season. If this is your preferred option, please email smtdtickets@umich.edu and we will contact you to process the exchange.

➡ Receive a refund. If you would like to receive a refund, please contact the Ticket Office at 734-764-2538 during business hours*. Please note that we do not keep credit card information on file, so we will need you to call our Ticket Office and speak to one of our associates in person. Do not send us your credit card information via email.

➡ Donate part or all of your ticket purchase to SMTD to help cover the costs already incurred in producing our shows. We ask that you kindly consider supporting our mission by donating at least half of the cost of your ticket(s) as a tax-deductible in-kind gift to the School of Music, Theatre & Dance.

If you purchased a ticket for an on-campus event other than DIE FLEDERMAUS, A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY, MY ONE & ONLY, or the Men’s and Women’s Glee Club concerts, please contact the presenting organization for information regarding exchanges/refunds.

We ask that you contact us before May 15, 2020 with your preferred option. If we do not hear from you by May 15, 2020 your ticket will be processed as a donation. Refund requests received prior to April 30 will be processed based on the payment method; all refund requests received after April 30, 2020 will be processed as a mailed check.

All sales are final. Due to the nature of the performing arts, artists and programs are subject to change. Refunds are given only in the case of event cancellation or date change. Handling fees are not refundable.

Exchanges
Tickets may be exchanged to another performance of the same production, but may not be exchanged to another production. With more than 48 hours notice, a $3 per ticket exchange fee will be charged to non-subscribers. Within 48 hours of the performance impacted, the exchange fee increases to $5 per ticket regardless of subscriber status.

Processing Fees
Fees of $2 – $3.50 are added to the cost of each individual ticket purchased over the phone or online. These fees will reflect in your cart. To avoid fees, purchase in person at the League Ticket Office. Power Series subscribers have reduced fee rates.

Ticket Donations
Tickets that cannot be exchanged may be returned to the box office as a tax-deductible donation. All donations must be received prior to the performance start time.

Children
With the exception of the Halloween Concert every fall, children under the age of three will not be admitted into performances. All children, regardless of age, must have their own ticket and must be able to sit quietly in their own seats throughout the performance.

Groups
An order of 10 or more tickets to a single performance entitles you to amenities of the Group Sales Program, which may include ticket discounts, waived service fees, payment plans, and advanced purchasing privileges. Wait Lists
For sold-out performances, a wait list will be started when the box office opens at the venue for that performance date. Wait lists are in-person only and are not a guarantee of entrance, but are highly recommended.

Discounted Student Tickets (students and children age 3+):

  • Student tickets are available in select locations in most performances.
  • Limit TWO per college student, one per child or high school student.
  • Teens and University Students must show valid ID at time of pick-up.
  • Tickets must be released to the qualifying number of students for the order contents. The box office can not release partial orders containing discounted tickets.
  • Student price is listed when available.
  • When standard tickets are available at or below the student rate, additional student discounts will not be available.
  • Student tickets cannot be mailed.
  • Student discount cannot be combined with other discounts.
