Plamen Fung, from Westborough, MA, is an undergraduate student pursuing degrees in Musicology and Music Theory. His research interests are primarily centered on vocal music, spanning the musikdramen of Richard Wagner, the operas of Giacomo Puccini, and the art songs of Franz Schubert and Gabriel Fauré. Outside of Western Art Music, he intends to study mid-19th-century Bulgarian Orthodox Church Music. He hopes to incorporate interdisciplinary practices, combining formalistic analysis, cultural historical, and anthropological practices to achieve more holistic scholarship.

He is also training as a classical bass-baritone, and previously studied French horn and Baroque alto recorder. As a French horn player, he was named a YoungArts finalist in 2022 and performed as a soloist with the New England Conservatory Preparatory School’s Youth Philharmonic Orchestra in Jordan Hall. As a classical vocalist, he has performed with the University’s Chamber Choir in their premiere with the New York Philharmonic in January of 2026. He has also dabbled in composition.

Outside of music, he enjoys writing poetry, cooking, gaming, playing trading card games, and building custom computers.
