Christian Bush

Christian Bush, from Shelby Township, MI, is pursuing a BM Music Theory, a BM is Jazz and Contemporary Improvisation: Double Bass, and a minor in English. At Michigan he divides his time between theory, jazz, LSA classes, and ensembles. He has played in the University of Michigan Jazz Ensemble, Small Jazz Ensembles, Jazz Trombone Ensemble, Creative Arts Orchestra, and University Philharmonia Orchestra. He is also a bandleader, composer, and arranger. He particularly likes Avante- Garde jazz, big band jazz, and contemporary classical music. His main research focus in music theory is black experimental music, particularly members of the AACM, Ornette Coleman, Sun Ra, and others. He is also interested in contemporary French music, popular music, and free improvisation.
Christian loves improvising with any musicians he can find, playing new music, political science, meditation, listening to Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, Pink Pantheress, and eating spicy food.
