Investing in Student Success
Building scholarship resources to support SMTD students remains our top priority, and we extend our sincere gratitude to the following individuals who have recently established new scholarships or made significant gifts to existing funds.
John Albright made a gift to the William Albright Scholarship for composition students.
An anonymous donor pledged support and made a gift to the H. Robert Reynolds Scholarship in Music.
Charlene Archibeque (BM ’57) pledged additional support for the Dr. Charlene P. Archibeque Scholarship for choral conducting students.
Lawrence Bell (BSE ’68, MSE ’69, MBA ’72) made gifts to the Merton J. and Gladys C. Bell Marching Band Scholarship.
Jerry (BM ’55, MM ’61) and Helga Bilik (BA ’65, MA ’68) made a gift to establish the Jerry and Helga Bilik Scholarship in Music Education.
Neil and Rebecca Cadman made gifts to the Cadman Family Marching Band Scholarship.
Harvey (BGS ’72) and Kathryn Calcutt (BA ’72) made a gift to the Roscoe and Lillian Bonisteel and Nancy Bonisteel Calcutt Scholarship for need-based aid.

Clifford (MD ’70) and Kathryn Cox (BA ’68, MA ’69) contributed to the Bill Evans Jazz Piano Scholarship.

The Deloitte Foundation made a gift to the Jeffrey N. Lutz – Deloitte Consulting Scholarship fund for Michigan Marching Band students.
Richard Douglas (BS ’74) and Anita Kupriss made a gift to the Anita Kupriss and Richard Douglas Scholarship for graduate sopranos and mezzo-sopranos.
Lynn Fireside (BA ’64) made a gift to the Fireside Scholarship for musical theatre students.
John (attended ’59) and Hilda Frey made a gift to establish the John M. Frey Scholarship for in-state students in the Departments of Musical Theatre and Theatre & Drama.
Rick (BA ’96, MBA ’01) and Jennifer Friedland (BA ’97, JD ’02) gave gifts to the Benj Pasek and Justin Paul Scholarship for musical theatre students.
Robert (BA ’57, DDS ’61, MS ’66) and Renee Greenberger made gifts to the Robert and Renee (Durbin) Greenberger Endowed Scholarship in Musical Theatre and Robert and Renee Greenberger Scholarship.
Gayle (BA ’85) and David Heller made a gift to the Gayle and David Heller Family Scholarship for theatre students.
Cyrus Hopkins (BS ’59) and Betty Blume made a gift to the Susan M. Hopkins Music, Theatre and Dance Fund, which provides scholarships for chamber music students.
Curtis and Janice Jones made a gift to the Ryan Curtis Jones Student Assistance Fund, which provides grants to students in the Department of Performing Arts Technology.

Fritz and Monica Kaenzig made a gift to the Fritz and Monica Kaenzig Scholarship for tuba and euphonium students.
Lee Rucker Keiser (BA ’80) and Matthew Keiser (BA ’84, MBA ’86) made a gift to the Lee Rucker Keiser Fund for out-of-state viola, cello, and double bass students.
James Kershner pledged additional support to the James Kershner and Mark Pfleger Scholarship in Musical Theatre.

Donald Shepherd (BBA ’58) made a gift to the Donald R. Shepherd Scholarship in Musical Theatre.
The Sigurd I. and Jarmila H. Rislov Foundation pledged support and made gifts to the Sigurd I. and Jarmila H. Rislov Foundation Music Education Scholarship and Sigurd I. and Jarmila H. Rislov Foundation Endowed Scholarship for classical music students.
