The 2025 State of the Arts Tour took the University of Michigan Symphony Band around Michigan to engage local communities, connect with high school students and educators, and showcase the university’s world-class performing arts programs. With support from the U-M Arts Initiative, the band performed eleven free public concerts at venues across the Lower Peninsula. View the concert program and ensemble roster at the tour website.
Led by Jason Fettig, professor of music and director of bands at SMTD, the tour also featured interactive clinics with high school band students in Belleville, Troy, Fenton, Grand Blanc, Flint, Midland, Interlochen, Traverse City, Muskegon, and Allendale.
Jason Fettig leads a clinic with students from Belleville High School and the U-M Symphony Band.
