In a concert that showcases a new way to think about the concept of “dancing,” the University of Michigan Symphony Band combines band classics with new and exciting contemporary music for winds and percussion. Moving from Sousa and Schoenberg to the famous Sinfonietta of Ingolf Dahl, the concert also includes the sparkling City of Ambition by Theresa Martin, and an impressive transcription for band of the final movement of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s electric orchestral masterpiece Symphonic Dances.
