This event features seven diverse comedians whose material encapsulates real moments of the human experience. Topics range from uncomfortable encounters, daily challenges, and the experience of loss. Through the powerful rhetorical device of humor, these stories transform into moments of empowerment and reclamation of one’s body and identity. “Dear Diary” reveals how stand-up comedy is made up of creative risks and promotes social justice within performance.
Hosted by: Vivian Burgett and Julianna Loera-Wiggins featuring Alaina Bamfield and comedians Sam Rager, Andrew Yang, Jacob Barr, and Robert Jenkins. Please contact Julianna Loera-Wiggins ([email protected]) with questions.
Alaina Bamfield is a stand-up comedian with strong roots in the Michigan comedy scene. She’s participated in multiple festivals including the Motor City Comedy Festival and opened for many major comedy stars such as Dave Attell and Sam Tallent.
Presented by the Center for World Performance Studies and U-M Arts Initiative.
