Muse Ye, DMA candidate in collaborative piano, will present a dissertation lecture recital on New Zealand composer Jenny McLeod.

A prominent figure in New Zealand music, Jenny McLeod retained her curiosity through her compositional career, from producing works using post-tonal techniques from her studies with Messiaen, to full length opera based on the Māori legend of creation, and works inspired by contemporary popular music (rock, jazz etc.).

Short clips of large ensemble works will be projected, and the works that will be performed live are:

– Selections from Under Southern Skies, a song cycle for mezzo-soprano and piano
Suite: Jazz Themes, for flute, clarinet/soprano sax, viola and piano

Please join us for the story of a beautiful artist from a remote corner of the world.
