M-STARS @ Mitchell / Scarlett
Performing Arts Enrichment Program
About
M-STARS @ Mitchell Elementary School
M-STARS @ Mitchell Elementary School introduces young learners to the performing arts through engaging, in-school enrichment experiences. Developed in partnership with the school’s music teacher, the program provides grade-level specific activities including creative movement, creative drama, instrument petting zoos, and a mini-concert series led by SMTD students and staff. These dynamic experiences spark curiosity, creativity, and self-expression while helping students discover new artistic interests. By providing meaningful early exposure to the performing arts, M-STARS @ Mitchell lays the foundation for future arts participation and prepares students to pursue artistic opportunities throughout their academic journeys.
M-STARS @ Scarlett Middle School
M-STARS @ Scarlett Middle School connects the budding young musicians of tomorrow to SMTD students for instrumental instruction, mentoring, and artistic enrichment. Participants in 6th through 8th grade receive free, after school, semi-private lessons from January – April. Partnering directly with the school music teachers, this program supplements student’s in-class music instruction through dynamic and individualized lessons. The dedication of the students participating in this program opens up opportunities beyond their middle school years. Many participants have gone on to place into select high school music programs. M-STARS @ Scarlett creates opportunities through early exposure and comprehensive instruction that helps students reach their full potential.
