Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Choral
Designed for pianists or singers who wish to specialize in teaching choral or general music in elementary and secondary schools. Participation in choral or instrumental groups prior to application is recommended. Demonstration of performance competence in voice or piano is required for admission.
Dual Degree in Music Performance
The Dual Degree in Music Education and Performance is designed for those who wish to pursue additional performance studies while earning a bachelors degree in music education, and generally requires an additional year of study.
The Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education requires a minimum of 130 credits: coursework is composed of 40 hours of performance and a minimum of 18 non-SMTD credits. SMTD coursework to include:
- Private lessons (voice or piano)
- Music Education
- Music Theory
- Ensemble participation
- Student teaching
