David Vayo (DMA ’90, composition) was a recipient of a 2023 Artist Fellowship from the Illinois Council for the Arts. His most recent composition, “Diverted Metal,” is for a percussionist playing on industrial machinery sculpture. Retired from Illinois Wesleyan University, Vayo presents solo concerts that combine jazz, concert, and popular music.
