Matt Smith (MM ’99, music education) was appointed director of bands at the University of Kansas in fall 2025. This is Smith’s 15th year at KU. Previous faculty appointments have included the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Iowa State University, Baylor University, and the University of Michigan.
