Pianist and writer Nico de Villiers (MM ’07, collaborative piano) first heard of the neglected Dutch American musician Richard Hageman (1881–1966) while studying at U-M. Since 2012, he has dedicated his research to the rediscovery and presentation of Hageman’s music, and has co-authored a book, recorded an album and toured with soprano Siobhan Stagg. (1/2025)
