Sam Stone (BFA ’07, dance) was recognized with the SMTD Alumni Board’s 2025 Professional Achievement in Dance Award. Stone is a dance performance artist, teacher, community organizer, and creator. She is a professor of dance at Appalachian State University, a certified Axis Syllabus teacher of anatomy and biomechanics, and a dance education specialist.
