A new composition by Stephen Michael Gryc (BM ’71, music education; MM ’78, composition & theory; DMA ’83, composition) was performed in multiple states in 2023. Stone Colors: Three Desert Images for Wind Symphony was commissioned in memory of Michigan graduate Eric Rombach-Kendall (MM ’84, clarinet, music education; MM ’88, clarinet, choral conducting), director of bands at the University of New Mexico.
