Bio
With over a decade of broad experience in project management, administration, and research, Naira Tumanyan excels in translating strategic initiatives into actionable projects, maintaining optimal team practices, and fostering strong relationships among collaborators. She leads a range of administrative activities, designs and implements initiatives, and manages finances and communications to support projects within the Office for Faculty Development and the Global Engagement Office. Collaborating closely with the Associate Dean for Faculty Development, she works with faculty, staff, and students to plan and execute faculty development activities and projects, evaluate progress, recommend actions to achieve unit goals, and streamline operations by developing and maintaining effective business processes.
In partnership with the Director of the Global Engagement Office, Naira helps shape and support the strategic vision of the office, providing oversight to ensure initiatives comply with university policies and procedures. She also develops procedures for faculty-led study abroad programs and advises faculty leaders on program planning and organization, including pre-departure orientations. Additionally, she oversees the contractual aspects of projects and manages partnership agreements with international collaborators.
Naira holds an MS degree in Human Centered Design and Engineering from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, complemented by prior Master’s degrees in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies from the University of Michigan, and Sociology from Yerevan State University. She is also a certified Project Management Professional who brings a strong interdisciplinary background and a wealth of expertise to her work, combining technical skills with a deep understanding of global contexts to drive impactful solutions.
