Before that, she was a full professor at Western Colorado University specializing in devising new work and theatre for social justice and violence prevention. She has also worked in the non-profit sector as an advocate for survivors of gender-based violence and brings trauma-informed practices into her work in the theatre. She directs regularly, has received multiple grants, and publishes and presents her scholarship both nationally and internationally. She is currently editing an anthology with a Kenyan colleague about the history of theatre in East Africa and her most recent theatre practice intersects creative expression with the neurobiology of trauma. She is the incoming editor of Theatre/Practice journal.
