Bio
Eloysa Zelada is a media artist, pianist, and composer currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the Performing Arts Technology Department at the University of Michigan. With a Master’s degree in Media Arts from the same institution and a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Mannes School of Music, her academic journey reflects a deep-rooted commitment to artistic exploration and interdisciplinary study. Her research spans diverse areas, including data sonification techniques, immersive media, electronic music, sound design, and interactive installations. Her master’s thesis project, “Unnatural Nature,” involved data sonification of climate change data and interactive technologies to foster reflection on the environmental crisis. She wrote a paper on this topic and presented it at ICAD 2023 in Sweden.
Eloysa has performed as a pianist in solo and ensemble performances, collaborating with the International Contemporary Ensemble and performing at venues in New York City such as Ernst Stiefel Hall, The Glass Box, and the Performing Arts Library at Lincoln Center.
