Bio
Amelia Hefferon is a Michigan native who earned her BA in Theatre from Northwestern University in 2013, with a concentration in Theatre for Young Audiences. Following several years working as an actor and teaching artist with a wide variety of arts and education institutions across Chicago, she pursued an MA in Applied Theatre from the City University of New York, which she completed in 2020. Her graduate research explored how theatre and drama can catalyze access, inclusion, and engagement in museum settings.
Before joining the SMTD Admissions Team, Amelia served as a Program Specialist at Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit. In this role, she developed curricula, taught drama residencies for K-12 students, directed and devised original works with middle and high school ensembles, and managed various aspects of the organization’s programming.
Amelia is thrilled to bring her experience and passion for nurturing young artists and scholars to the SMTD community.
