SMTD Student Emergency Fund

Applications Due by January 10, 2021

The SMTD Student Emergency Fund, funded by SMTD donors, Dean David Gier, and UM’s Center for the Education of Women (CEW+), provides support to SMTD students to address emergency financial and remote learning needs. Applications will be evaluated individually, and may include support requests for housing, emergency travel, moving/storage expenses, food expenses, technology equipment or access, medical expenses, or other needs. SMTD awards will average $250, with higher need students being recommended to CEW+ for increased levels of support. The application also allows students to check-out headphones and microphones for use during Winter 2021.

Documentation of expenses is required, and may be sent to as attachments.

Financial awards will be provided through the University’s financial aid system. These awards may be subject to taxes, and students are responsible for these payments. For students who qualify for need-based financial aid, receipt of this award may reduce the original loan amount or subsidy.

The initial deadline for full consideration of Fall 2020 applications is Dec. 1, with applications continuing to be evaluated on a rolling basis after the new year.

International students are eligible to apply. 

Rackham graduate students should apply for Rackham Graduate Student Emergency Funds before submitting this application. Rackham provides emergency funding up to $2500. Rackham students may use this form to request a loan of SMTD remote learning equipment regardless of Rackham emergency fund application status.
