Supplemental Tuition Assistance Appeals Policy for Continuing Undergraduate Students
Students are asked to contact the Office of Financial Aid before submitting this application to discuss a re-evaluation of their FAFSA and to be considered for their emergency grants.
We know that financial circumstances can change year to year. That’s why our Continuing Student Supplemental Tuition Assistance fund is a flexible funding option for current SMTD undergraduate students with financial need. Award amounts will vary based on each student’s documented individual financial situation. The good news is that students can apply for supplemental tuition assistance every academic year. Read below to learn more about eligibility, deadlines, and our application process.
What does the scholarship cover?
The SMTD Supplemental Tuition Assistance fund helps to cover gaps in the cost of attendance for Fall and Winter terms for the period of one academic year.
Amounts and Duration
The SMTD Supplemental Tuition Assistance Fund is based on a student’s financial need. These awards are non-renewable, but students can apply each year. The amount of funding available for continuing student support is very limited. Due to budget constraints, not all students who apply will be awarded an increase in funding.
Application Deadline
Applications are accepted between January 1 and July 31 each year. If students experience hardships outside of this timeline, they should contact the SMTD Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid for assistance ([email protected]).
Applications will be reviewed once the student has a completed financial aid application on file with the Office of Financial Aid. As International students are not eligible to complete a financial aid application, they should contact the SMTD Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid for further instructions. Applicants will receive award notifications by early August prior to the beginning of Fall term. The SMTD encourages students to utilize all financial aid resources available to them, including loans and work study where applicable.
