MPulse COVID-19 Updates

U-M President Mark Schlissel announced on Monday, March 23, 2020, that all spring and summer term courses at the University of Michigan’s three campuses will be conducted remotely in alternative formats. This will also pertain to all non-curricular summer programming, including MPulse.

The Engagement & Outreach Staff is working with MPulse faculty to determine if an online/alternative format is a possible option for your summer program. If a remote program is deemed not viable, your program may be canceled.

Some questions you may have regarding this announcement:

How will I know if my program is moving to an alternative format or canceled?
The Office of Engagement will communicate this directly to participants and their guardians no later than May 1, 2020.

What will happen if my program is canceled?
You will be notified via email. Your tuition fee (including deposit) will be refunded in full.

Will my “non-refundable” application fee be refunded?
Your application fee is a non-refundable fee due to costs that have already been incurred setting up and administering the application process. Application fees go to off-set administrative and technological expenses. If you have further questions, please email mpulse@umich.edu.

What if my program isn’t canceled, but I do not want to attend the alternative format?
Your tuition (including deposit) will be refunded in full. If programs are running in an alternative format, participants will have the option to Opt-in or Opt-out of participation.

How much will my tuition be if I attend my MPulse Institute remotely?
Remote programs will be offered at a reduced tuition. Exact amounts will be determined for each program and communicated to participants.

Will I still receive registration forms on March 30, 2020?
No. Your registration forms will be sent at a later date once program details are finalized.

We understand that these changes may cause uncertainty and concern, and we appreciate your patience during this unique time we are all facing. We also appreciate the kindness that has been displayed by participants and their guardians through the communications we have already had with many of you. We will be in touch as soon as we’re able with more information.

If I received a scholarship, will that still apply?
Yes, your scholarship will be applied to your new tuition in the same percentage that it was for the original tuition.
