The Michigan Youth Chamber Singers (MYCS) is a select SATB choir composed of outstanding vocalists from across the region. Due to restrictions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, MYCS will be moving online for the 2020-21 Season! This online format will include rehearsals with SMTD faculty and students, as well as weekly educational webinars ranging on subjects specific to the singers, choir, SMTD admissions, best practices on recording yourself from home, and much more.
Students will also participate in SMTD’s Grand Night For Singing, a collaboration with UMS choral union to present an online evening of choral music, music theatre, and solo voice performances that celebrates the power of community and connection with staged performances from the past and new virtual performances that highlight the broad vocal talent at the university and in our community
Students may also participate exclusively in the webinar series if they want access to weekly educational material without participating in weekly rehearsals and SMTD’s Grand Night for Singing. More information on auditioning / registering is listed below.
Both the online MYCS ensemble and webinar series are open to advanced high-school aged singers.
