The University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance has a strong commitment to creating the artists of tomorrow, which starts well before college. To this end, we offer a number of programs created especially for pre-college-age students, from elementary to high school.
Michigan Youth Ensembles
Created as an enrichment opportunity for local music education programs, MYE allows students to work in a highly competitive collegiate setting and minimizes barriers between high school and college music study.
Formerly the “All-State at Interlochen” program, MPulse began on the Ann Arbor campus in 2006. This summer intensive is a residential program for high-school artists from across the globe.
Girls in Music & Technology
A summer day camp designed to encourage participation by girls in activities at the intersection of music and technology. GiMaT participation is open to all genders and offers the hands-on opportunity to learn creative technologies for making music with computers.
Piano Pedagogy Laboratory Program
Group and private piano lessons are available for pre-college age students.
String Preparatory Academy
Stringed instrument study program for pre-college students ages elementary through high school. Instruction includes group and private lessons, master classes, recitals, and outreach programs.
