Specialist in Music: Wind & Percussion Performance

Department of Winds & Percussion

Designed for students seeking intensive and specialized professional training focusing on performance and ensemble participation. Applicants must possess a master’s degree in music or its equivalent as well as substantial solo and ensemble repertoire.

Curriculum

The Specialist in Music: Wind & Percussion Performance requires a minimum of 30 credits. Coursework to include:

  • Private lessons
  • Ensemble participation
  • Music Education, Musicology, Music Theory, Conducting, and/or Composition

Final Project

The presentation of a recital.

How To Apply

Applicants must:

  • apply to U-M via the SMTD Graduate Application by December 1
  • Submit an SMTD Artistic Profile by December 1 for a live audition
    • submit by January 15 for a recorded audition (if allowed by the instrument faculty)
  • Have all supplemental materials sent to SMTD
