Bio

Sarah Jane Rau began working at SMTD in September 2010. Prior to her work at U-M she served as the Director of Programs for Midori & Friends non-profit organization in New York City that provided music programming to public schools throughout all five boroughs of NYC. Other positions in NYC included the Education Director of City Lights Youth Theatre, Executive Director of the Opera Company of Brooklyn, Assistant to the President of ICM Artists, (now Opus III), and Teaching Artist for the Third Street Music School Settlement.

Sarah Jane started her career as a high school and junior high vocal music director in Midland, MI. She also taught secondary choral methods, and voice lessons as an adjunct faculty member at Alma College. She has been the music director, performer, and director of several community musical productions, and currently serves as the Director of The Arbor Consort, a Renaissance vocal ensemble in Ann Arbor. Rau received her M.A. in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University.
