Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion


Bio

Caitlin Taylor (she/her/hers) is the Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at the University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre & Dance. She manages student programming for SMTD DEI, connects with cross-campus partners, and oversees a team of undergraduate students. Caitlin previously served as Career Services Coordinator in the EXCEL Lab where she coordinated operations, managed the Internship and Immersion programs, and coached hundreds of students in one-on-one appointments.

In 2020, Caitlin co-founded the SMTD Staff Anti-Racism group, facilitating monthly meetings. Caitlin also serves as one of the co-facilitators of the Faculty and Staff Allies Network, a collection of volunteer leaders dedicated to fostering a nurturing, respectful, and safe SMTD community, free from sexual misconduct, harassment, and gender bias. Caitlin is the recipient of a 2021 Carol Hollenshead Inspire Award and a 2022 MLK North Campus Spirit Award.

Before her time on staff at SMTD, Caitlin worked at ArtOps, where she collaborated with leading arts organizations in metro Detroit, including Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings and Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival. Caitlin is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance where she studied viola performance.
