Connecticut Summerfest Internship

This internship is open to students pursuing a degree in music, arts management, business, or marketing. Eligible students must be at least 18 years of age by June 2020, and have a valid driver’s license. The internship will begin February 2020 and span the length of Connecticut Summerfest (June 11-17,2020), taking place on the University of Hartford campus at The Hartt School. The student will be housed and fed at Connecticut Summerfest for the duration of the festival. The student selected for this opportunity will receive a stipend to support the costs associated with travel and lodging.

Arts Management Internship

Connecticut Summerfest brings together talented emerging composers with some of the country’s most inventive chamber music ensembles for a week-long festival of artistic exchange culminating in nine world premieres. The festival provides the Greater Hartford community with contemporary music concerts of the highest caliber through a nightly concert series featuring three ensembles-in-residence and brand-new pieces written by festival composition students. Connecticut Summerfest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

The internship will begin February 2019 and span the length of Connecticut Summerfest (June 11-17, 2020), taking place on the University of Hartford campus at The Hartt School. The student will be housed and fed at Connecticut Summerfest for the duration of the festival.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Attend and contribute to Board of Directors meetings (as requested).
  • Develop and execute a social media plan in coordination with Media and Development Manager.
  • Assist with fundraising events and outreach efforts (annual fundraising campaign, solicited donations, advertising, etc).
  • Assist with arrival and departure logistics of festival participants, including transportation, check-in, and check-out.
  • Work in conjunction with Technical Coordinator and Recording Engineer on concert preparation, recording, and front of house management.
Internship Details:
  • Up to 4 hours per week February-June (weekly Board of Directors meeting included)
  • Board of Directors meetings take place at the Connecticut Summerfest festival office (Manchester, CT) but may be attended via conference call
  • Internship hours will be flexible according to student schedule
  • Intern must be present during all festival events: June 2020
  • Intern will be housed on-campus with festival participants and fed for the duration of the festival
