Taria Mitchell

Admissions Counselor

Taria Mitchell (she/her/hers) is an Admissions Counselor for the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. She evaluates applications, meets with prospective students,  aids in undergraduate and graduate orientations, represents SMTD at national recruiting events, and oversees the I-20/visa process for graduate music students.

Mitchell graduated from SMTD in 2020 with a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and was a member of Dr. George Shirley’s voice studio. During her time as a student, she participated in many ensembles, including the University of Michigan Chamber Choir, Orpheus Singers, and was co-founder/assistant director of BlueNote Vocal Jazz Ensemble, while also working as a student in the Office of Admissions. Mitchell also completed a Bachelor of Music in Music Education Degree from Westminster Choir College in 2017 before teaching K-12 general music and choir for one year.

Mitchell is excited to continue demonstrating her commitment to her alma mater by supporting the next generation and assisting them with their academic pursuit. Go Blue!
