Megan BascomLecturer of Dance
Megan Bascom is a choreographer, performer, somatics practitioner, and dance educator. As faculty at the University of Michigan, she teaches Composition, Partnering, and Modern techniques. Her work via, NYC-based company Megan Bascom & Dancers, has been presented and supported nationally and internationally, including Triskelion Arts (NY), Gowanus Arts + Production (NY), Center for Performance Research (NY), Dixon Place (NY), Manhattan Movement and Arts Center (NY), Dance New Amsterdam (NY), The Dance Complex (MA), Ohio University (OH), Dance Alive National Ballet (FL), the University of Michigan (MI), Artus Studio (Budapest, Hungary), and Ankara State Conservatory/Hacettepe University (Ankara, Turkey). She was awarded the Florida Dance Festival Artist in Residence 2012 (FL), received the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Space Subsidy at Triskelion Arts 2012-2017 (NY), and the Meta Weiser Performing Arts EXCELerator Grant 2018 (MI).
As a dance educator, Megan has a comprehensive teaching roster. In NYC, she worked most notably at Gibney Dance Center and held numerous guest teaching positions nationally. Internationally she has taught in Hungary, Morocco, Tunisia, and Turkey.
Megan holds a BA with Honors in Dance Studies, focusing on Dance Injury and Prevention from the University of South Florida and an MFA from the University of Michigan. She is certified in Pilates through the Kane School for Core Integration and has been teaching to an extensive clientele since 2008.
