A group of jazz percussion students will spend spring break in Cuba, for a week of study and performance with Cuban musicians and students, as well as an immersive exploration of Cuban culture and history.
SMTD has partnered with the Gershwin family to bring the music of George and Ira Gershwin to students, scholars, performers and audiences across campus and worldwide.
Rehearsal Time: Sundays, 1:30-3:30 PM
Rehearsal Location: Moore Building, Room 2058
An ensemble designed to develop the skills and understanding necessary to perform in the jazz idiom. Students develop both listening and playing skills through the analysis and performance of standard songs and artists.
Interested students must complete the MYE online application. The $45 non-refundable application fee can be paid online by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, or Discover) or mailed as check/money order payable to University of Michigan.
No audition is required to join the Jazz Improvisation Ensemble.
