Campus Life

Lodging

MPulse is an all-inclusive residential program. MPulse students are required to live in designated University residence halls. Students are typically housed in double rooms with fellow MPulse participants and are supervised by trained staff who are U-M performing arts students or alumni.

Exception: MPulse Center Stage Strings participants who are 18 and older by the start of the program are housed in Baits adult housing. Adult students in CSS also have the option of residing off-campus. Adult students ARE NOT supervised by MPulse staff.

Extracurricular

MPulse offers a robust schedule of extracurricular and evening activities for students. In addition to performing in recitals, MPulse students are treated to:

Students also visit the nationally-acclaimed Ann Arbor Art Fair; have a Central Campus tour; and, enjoy a variety of indoor and outdoor activities.

Students are expected to participate in all aspects of their session and must remain on campus, or with planned off-campus MPulse activities, for the entire duration of their session. Students are not allowed to leave campus with friends or family at any time during their program.

Electronics Policy

MPulse is a cell-phone-free program. Students may bring a cell phone to campus, however no access to these devices will be available during scheduled MPulse classes and activities. All cell phones will be collected at check-in and securely stored. Students' phones will be available for their use in the dormatory each evening.

Computers, televisions, or other large electronics are not permitted. Students are encouraged to bring recording devices (digital or mechanical) to use for practice and in class where permitted or required. Recording devices brought to campus should NOT be connected to the internet or social media during the student's stay. Examples of these devices include iPod, MP3 players, and digital voice recorders.

 

MPulse students will be given limited access to University computers in order to complete research/assignments related to MPulse classes, or to communicate with parents via email if necessary. Students should not participate in any online courses or exams while at MPulse.
