Dance Department Tour & Class Visits

The Department of Dance studios and offices are located on Central Campus. We offer observation of Dance classes on the following days/times: Dance Class Info. Our faculty will often invite prospective students to participate in class. Please bring dance clothes that allow you to move if you would like to participate in a class.

Faculty Meetings / Sample Lessons / Studio Class Visits

Joe GramleyOur extraordinary faculty includes performers currently active on the international stage, highly experienced former members of symphony orchestras, opera houses, and dance and theatre companies, prize-winning composers, and renowned scholars in theory and musicology.

Many faculty members welcome the opportunity to visit with prospective students, and many are available for private lessons. Please contact our faculty members directly, as they schedule their own appointments and have unique policies for visits, lesson fees, etc.

Unfortunately, due to the high volume of requests the Musical Theatre faculty are generally unable to meet with prospective students. Please contact SMTD Admissions to inquire further about the program.

Music Rehearsal Visits

Live Performances

Into the WoodsEach year, students and faculty of the School of Music, Theatre & Dance present more than 450 concerts, recitals, and staged performances in Ann Arbor.  Experiencing a live performance offers the best perspective about the level of artistry at the University of Michigan. Central Campus Tours & Information Sessions

UM DiagThis student-led tour takes you through central campus, including visits to academic buildings and a residence hall. Registration for these sessions must be completed online through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Carillon Tours

Residence Halls

Bursley HallFor security reasons, tours of residence halls are only available to admitted students and family members as part of the Campus Day program in March & April, as well as to students participating in the Summer Orientation Program. Virtual Tours are always available on the Housing Website.

Living Arts

Living Arts is an interdisciplinary living learning community located in Bursley Hall and comprises students from SMTD, the Stamps School of Art & Design, the College of Engineering, and the Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning. The focus of this community is exploring the creative process and how it is approached from a variety of disciplines.
