Richard Lindsay received his theater degree from the Conservatory Program at Purchase College (S.U.N.Y. Purchase).

Rich's technical, production, and design credits include: Capital Rep, Albany, NY; BoarsHead Michigan Public Theater, Lansing, MI; SF Bay Area Performing Arts Alliance, Palo Alto, Ca; Huntington Summer Arts Festival, Long Island, NY; Tibbits Opera House, Coldwater, MI; Lansing Community College, Lansing, MI; Michigan Shakespeare Festival, Jackson, MI; Festival of New Works, Ann Arbor, MI; Long Island Dance Co., Long Island, NY.

Rich has also done work in the Ann Arbor area creating store displays, scenery for the Wild Swan Theater, and Ann Arbor's Young Peoples Theater. Rich has been a local contact for Sapsis Rigging, surveying and installing in a mix of venues including clubs and places of worship in the Detroit metro area. He was a journeyman member of IATSE Local 274, the professional theatrical employees union for over 15 years.

Most recently Rich has been working with John Neville-Andrews in developing the Michigan Shakespeare Festival. In his time there, they have taken the Festival from local event to attracting national attention.

Rich's duties at the University include technical direction of Department of Theatre & Drama productions assigned to the Walgreen Drama Center Scenery Shop. These productions are built almost entirely by new undergraduate students in the School of Music, Theatre & Dance. Small group instruction is one of Rich's favorite aspects of his job. Somehow Rich finds time to squeeze in some teaching duties as the instructor for scenic construction and technical direction classes. He also instructs students in an introduction to CAD drafting for the theater.

Rich is married and is especially proud of his two young sons with whom he shares many activities. Rich volunteers as a leader for the Boy Scouts and serves on his local district commissioner staff. Rich umpires softball and has served as Umpire and Chief on the MASA District 6 staff. He is also proud to have worked state championship play and international play in recent seasons. Rich enjoys the Pokemon Trading Card Game with his sons. Rich is a tournament organizer and league leader. He and his sons have several times been involved as staff and competitors at the card games World Championships, an event that draws players and families each summer from over 35 countries. He is also an avid Geocacher.
