BFA in Performance - Directing Concentration: Requirements

For those who wish to work in directing in theatre.

Pre-College Preparation: Significant involvement in theatre productions is recommended. Talented students without previous experience may apply.

Degree Requirements:

Theatre Requirements  (Total credits - 67): 172, 181, 182, 192, 211 or 402, 240, 241, 242, 245, 250, 251, 252, 256, 260, 267, 282, 321, 322, 323, 341, 342, 387, 429, 442

SMTD Requirements (Total credits - 3): Music 341

Suggested SMTD Electives (Total credits - 7): MT 133, MT 235, MT 465/466, Dance 334, TH 212, TH 222, TH 227, TH 233, TH 385, TH 424, TH 427

Non-SMTD Requirements (Total credits - 45): Film & Video 290, English 124 or 125, English 225 or EBC Jr/Sr Writing , English 367 or equivalent, Foreign Language (8 hrs),

Non-SMTD Electives: at least 23 credits

Total credits: No less than 122

Grades: A grade lower than a C- in any School of Music, Theatre & Dance performance class is NOT acceptable and will not fulfill degree requirements.

Third-Year Review: Directing concentrators participate in a third-year evaluation in the junior year that serves as an assessment of the student's potential to enter the job market or graduate school.
