Master of Music in Collaborative Piano

Prerequisites for Admission

A bachelor's degree in piano or its equivalent; substantial solo and ensemble repertoire; elementary proficiency in two languages (French, German, or Italian).

Curriculum

  • Twelve hours of piano accompanying and/or chamber music courses
  • Three hours of piano chamber music literature
  • Private piano performance instruction as required
  • One course in the interpretation of songs
  • Three hours of course work in the techniques of vocal coaching
  • Six hours of musicology, music theory, and/or composition beyond the undergraduate requirements
  • Electives to complete a total of thirty-five hours
  • Presentation of three recitals of vocal and instrumental repertoire
  • Departmental examination including intermediate proficiency in reading, and advanced proficiency in pronunciation, of French, German, and Italian
