Bergstein-Dow, Connie MFA 1976

Connie’s many years as a professional dancer include performing with Macrodanza in Venezuela, Harbinger Dance Co in Detroit, the Ballet Nacional de Guatemala, and Contemporary Dance Theater in Cincinnati. Her teaching experience includes the School for Creative and Performing Arts, the Art Academy (both in Cincinnati), the Budig Academy of the Cincinnati Ballet, the Chautauqua Institute (with fellow UM graduate Kathleen Smith) in NY, and dance academies in Venezuela and Guatemala. In addition to her book Dance, Turn, Hop, Learn!  Enriching Movement Activities for Preschoolers, she has written several articles.  She presents teacher workshops at national conferences, including the National Association for the Education of Young Children as well as its state chapters.  She is working on her second book about movement activities for children. She and her husband Buzz have three children: David, Michael, and Jessica.


Dakin, Christine BA 1972

Christine joined the Martha Graham Dance Company in 1976, where she was a principal dancer, performing Graham’s central roles in such works as Appalachian Spring, Lamentation, and Clytemnestra. Dakin became Artistic Director of the company and is now Artistic Director Laureate. She continues to perform and is on the faculty at Harvard University.
