New Zealand choral director leads master class

Karen Grylls, associate professor in conducting and head of Choral Studies at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, will be in residence as a Sally Fleming Master Class presenter, January 10-12, 2016. On Tuesday, January 12, Grylls will lead a conducting master class with the SMTD graduate choral conductors and the Orpheus Singers in Stamps Auditorium at 12:30 pm. The free event will be open to the public. 

Grylls has directed the Auckland Dorian Choir (1985-1998), assumed the position of musical director of TOWER NZ Youth Choir in 1989 and founded TOWER Voices NZ in March 1998. In addition to being the current musical director of both of these national choirs, she also conducts the Chamber Choir at the University of Auckland and directs courses in choral ensemble skills.
